I have been using Tropic Marin Sea Salt for several
months now. After doing some research regarding sea
salts to offer my crabs, I discovered that Instant
Ocean offers merely the “essential” trace
elements found in natural tropical ocean water. Tropic
Marin, on the other hand, contains all 70 trace elements
found in tropical ocean water. I felt this could be
a benefit to my crabs as they could possibly have
been deficient in some of the elements not provided
by other well known sea salt products.
The salt water went over well in my tank, and the
crabs took to it as if it were their normal Instant
Ocean water. I DID find that in a taste test (yes,
I tasted it!) Tropic Marin tasted more like natural
ocean water than IO. The IO tasted more synthetic.
In addition, it comes in a resealable bag that helps
keep the salt fresh and from getting moisture in the
bag!
One final observation I’ve made is that the
Tropic Marin salt water dish evaporates MUCH less
quickly than the Instant Ocean salt water dish!
